Graydon Gesner is a second-generation jewelry professional following in his father’s footsteps who has an extensive background in fine art and jewelry which began at Sotheby’s in New York City approximately 45 years ago. Graydon’s parents have been in the fine art and jewelry business together since 1977.

Gesner Appraisal Services offers jewelry and watch appraisal services from our GIA graduate, Graydon Gesner. Appraisals include a complete analysis of the gemstones and/or its precious metal, as well as an up to date evaluation of its current value. We offer two types of jewelry and watch appraisals. Retail replacement value and Fair market value. Gemological identification reports are another service we offer if you’re looking to have a gemstone that you have in question identified and evaluated.

Retail Replacement Value
The most common evaluation to the jewelry industry is retail replacement value. Retail replacement is defined as the price that an average retail jeweler would sell a new item that is comparable to the item being appraised at the time of the appraisal. This is also known as an insurance appraisal. If you’re thinking of having something appraised for resale, this would also be a great option.

Fair Market Value
Fair market value is the price at which the jewelry would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller, neither being under any compulsion to buy or sell and both having reasonable knowledge of relevant facts. We use this option frequently for attorneys handling estate situations.

* Retail replacement value/Fair market value appraisal – $90.00

* Jewelry/Gemstone consultation – $150.00 per hour.

* House calls – $200.00 per hour.
